Kuwait ‘Bakeries’ company to hike production – Sufficient stock for a long time

KUWAIT CITY, March 15: Director of the Inspection Department of the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition at the Jahra Governorate, Dr Nawaf Al-Enezi said all imported and packed foods are safe and healthy and dispelled fears that the Corona virus is transmitted through them, based on reports of the World Health Organization, reports Al-Anba daily.

Al-Enezi told the daily that strict control is being imposed on all cooperative societies and establishments, pointing out department does not tolerate any violation of regulations and instructions.

He explained that 15 food establishments in the Jahra Governorate were closed last year for not complying with standards or food unfit for consumption.

Al-Enezi also stated that 105 tons of spoiled food was destroyed and 1,241 citations were issued, 6,820 licenses were withdrawn and 126 signed pledges not to commit any violation.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) stressed on the need for permanent and continuous coordination and joint action between the cooperative societies and the Ministry and inform the Ministry if there is any shortage of products and goods, reports Al-Anba daily quoting an official from the ministry.

The official added there is an urgent need to spread consumer culture among shoppers and spreading awareness that goods and products are available and the stock is sufficient for a long time, and this in itself should prevent crowding and panic buying. He blamed the media for not playing its role in this regard.

However, he said, the ministry confirms that the food quantities and other goods available are sufficient for months and called on the consumers to remain calm and not panic.
