Kuwait, Azerbaijan mark 30 years of relations; boost eyed in trade

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 10: Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kuwait Emil Karimov affirmed that the relationship between the two countries is deeply rooted considering their strong cultural and religious ties, as well as their successful collaboration with international organizations. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kuwait and Azerbaijan, Karimov confirmed that “Kuwait always supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. high level of political relations between our countries, as well as opportunities to strengthen cooperation in the economy, energy, and other fields, and their geographical proximity, create favorable conditions for establishing closer ties.” He added that the Joint Committee for Cooperation between the governments of Azerbaijan and Kuwait, which was established on Feb 10, 2009, will hold its next meeting in Kuwait.

“It is expected that new agreements for cooperation in various fields such as education, justice, agriculture, culture, sports, and labor will be signed in this meeting.” He also revealed that more than 20,000 Kuwaitis visited Azerbaijan from January to September 2024. He said the trade and investment ties between the two countries do not reflect the potential, hence, the need to increase the volume of trade exchange through the continuation of mutual visits at the commercial and business levels with the participation of Kuwaiti companies in large-scale reconstruction and construction works in the liberated territories.
