Association sets up new strategy to open doors for Kuwaiti entrepreneurs

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 6, (KUNA): Passenger traffic at Kuwait International Airport increased 24 percent in January 2018 to 1.37 million compared to 1.11 million last year, airport authorities said on Monday. This included 716,114 arrivals compared to 553,935 arrivals, as departures also increased recording 716,114 compared to 553,935, a Directorate General of Civil Aviation official said. Some 10,090 flights took place compared to 8,701 flights, including 9,664 commercial flights up from 8,284 commercial flights, said Deputy Director-General for Aviation Safety and Air Transport Emad Al-Juluwi. Meanwhile, air cargo movement at the airport recorded 19,610 tonnes compared to 16,530 tonnes, including 14,570 tonnes of incoming freight up from 13,490 tonnes and 5,030 tonnes of dispatched cargo compared to 3,030 tonnes.

Head of Kuwait Association for Small and Medium Enterprises Dawood Marafie revealed that he has set up a new strategy to open doors for Kuwaiti entrepreneurs, reports Al-Anba daily. He indicated that the goal of the strategy is to comprehend the real needs of entrepreneurs especially since the small and medium enterprises sector has become the talk of the town and their projects are expanding outside Kuwait at high values.

Marafie explained that the association, following its meeting with all members, set 20 priorities. It was agreed that the focus in the coming phase should be on eight priorities including amendment of the fifth section of the Social Security Law, developing banking services for the registrants under this section with the cooperation of Kuwait Banking Association and activating electronic interface among government agencies. The priorities also include opening communication channels with companies of the private sector in order to establish business incubators, and activating trade relations among entrepreneurs of small enterprises. Priority will also be given to accelerating the file for industrial lands.
