KUWAIT CITY, Oct 13: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) reaffirmed Kuwait's commitment to enhancing international cooperation in achieving the highest safety standards in the aviation sector during a speech on Sunday. Abdullah Al-Rajhi, the Deputy Director General for Aviation Safety, Air Transport, and Civil Aviation Security, and acting spokesman for the DGCA, made this statement at the opening of the sixth meeting of the Safety Enhancement Implementation Group. This event, along with the meetings of the National Continuous Monitoring Coordinators, is being held in Kuwait for two days.

Al-Rajhi emphasized that the meeting serves as a "valuable opportunity" for member states to exchange knowledge and expertise, playing an essential role in "our collective strategy to enhance regional and international safety frameworks." He noted that through collaborative efforts, "we will be able to address current and future challenges in the aviation sector while ensuring the sustainability of improvements in performance and safety." He described the Safety Enhancement Implementation Group as a cornerstone for developing regional safety initiatives and highlighted its pivotal role in implementing the recommendations and outcomes from previous meetings.

The agenda for the meetings includes discussions on the latest developments in the implementation of national safety plans and programs for member states, as well as the challenges and opportunities these programs present for enhancing aviation safety. Al-Rajhi expressed his gratitude to the Regional Office of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and all participants from sister countries for their dedicated efforts in promoting aviation safety.

The meeting features representatives from various Arab countries, including Egypt, Jordan, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Morocco, alongside airlines and ground service providers at Kuwait International Airport, and representatives from ICAO. Following the meetings, workshops will be held for three days starting October 15, focusing on the development and implementation of the National Safety Plan and the National Safety Program. These workshops will provide an ideal platform for exchanging best practices and addressing the challenges faced by countries in this field.
