Girl killed, two hurt in Abdali farm mishap; Girl in thieves gang

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 24, (Agencies): A crane accidentally crashed into a chalet at a farm in Al-Abdali north of Kuwait early on Saturday killing a girl and injuring two persons, the fire department said in a statement. The crane accidentally crashed when another chalet was being lifted. Two persons who were in the chalet were injured. Firemen were dispatched to the scene where one of them was injured in the relief operation. Meanwhile, a 26-year-old Kuwaiti woman reportedly died in a traffic accident in Germany who was accompanying her father, reports Al-Qabas daily. Without going into more details, the daily said the German authorities have yet to inform the Kuwaiti Embassy.

Girl in thieves gang: The Hawalli police have arrested two young people, a Kuwaiti man and a bedoun girl and are believed to be looking for two others for committing several thefts, reports Al-Rai daily. A security source said a police patrol on duty in Nugra suspected the four people riding along the Beirut Street and ordered the man behind the wheel to pull over. Two of the suspects got out of the car and managed to escape but the two others were caught. Both suspects in police custody looked disoriented. Police have seized from their car drugs, a stun gun, drug consuming tools, listening devices, surveillance cameras, batons, forged KD 20 banknotes, nine smart phones, two laptop computers and knives. Both the suspects have been referred to the authorities for investigation. Meanwhile, police are looking for an unidentified person who allegedly abandoned his car on the road and escaped when he saw police cars, reports Al-Shahed daily. The police then checked the car and found four joints of hashish. The incident happened in Naseem, Jahra. The car has been impounded.

Damages in fire: Fire broke out in a fl at in Hawally area, resulting in only material losses and no casualties, says Al-Seyassah. When the Control Room of Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) received information about the fl at on fire, firefighters rushed to the location. After evacuating all the tenants from the building, they extinguished the fire within a short time before it spread further. Investigations have been launched to determine the cause of the fire. Meanwhile, a firefighter sustained injuries when his vehicle collided with a fire engine. Paramedics referred him to Mubarak Hospital for treatment.
