Female artiste accuses friend of stealing necklace worth KD 90K

KUWAIT CITY, April 2: A well-known female artiste lodged a complaint against her friend, accusing the latter of stealing a valuable necklace worth KD 90,000 from her apartment, reports Al-Shahed daily. Officers from the General Department of Criminal Evidences lifted fingerprints to identify the culprit. Securitymen will summon the artiste’s friend for interrogations.

Society condemns MoI act: Kuwait Lawyers Society has condemned the way Ministry of Interior published pictures of suspects on Thursday, urging it to refrain from using its authority in an oppressive manner and in violation of the Kuwaiti Constitution, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

In a press statement, the society stressed that the step taken by the ministry to publish the pictures of two suspects involved in two separate cases is aimed to intentionally defame the suspects who are still under investigations and whose cases have not yet been referred to the judiciary.

It insisted that this attitude of Ministry of Interior is in direct violation of the Kuwaiti Constitution, which guarantees the rights of every citizen, adding that suspects are innocent until proven otherwise by the court.

The society declared its refusal of this method adopted by Ministry of Interior against the rights of citizens, reiterating that it is considered a direct violation of the law and Constitution of Kuwait. It asked the ministry to respect the rights of suspects, as the ministry is considered as the “shield of Kuwait” that maintains the country’s security and stability.
