Expedite completion of rain crisis report, says minister

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 21: The Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Dr Jenan Bushehri has asked the commission that was formed to look into the issue of ‘rain crisis’ to expedite the completion of its final report so that it can be submitted to the Council of Ministers as soon as possible, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting informed sources..

The sources quoting the minister said the government is waiting for the report to take an appropriate decision to determine the responsibilities of companies and senior officials in government agencies, in addition to the adoption of recommendations to improve the performance of the ministry.

The sources pointed out that the commission has informed the minister during a meeting in the National Assembly recently that it will submit its report at the end of this month according to the time schedule given to them and that the minister is expected to hold another meeting with the commission members next week to inform them of the general features of the report and what has been reached so far.

The commission heard last week the views of a number of specialists in the Kuwait National Petroleum Company to verify the quality of bitumen mixed with the road asphalt. In contrast, the KNPC has issued a decision to raise the price of bitumen to all users to double the price advertised during the last period. In its decision, a copy of which has been obtained by the daily, the tonnage of KD 102.06 for the quality of 60/70 and 131.31 dinars for MC70.
