Ex-cop sets up checkpoint, drugs found in his possession

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 24: A policeman who was previously dismissed from service for committing several felonies and using drugs was arrested for impersonating police and possessing drugs, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to security sources, the suspect, while wearing police uniform, had set up a security checkpoint in Ahmadi Industrial Area and was checking the ID documents of motorists.

Since he was standing beside his private car and not a police patrol vehicle, a citizen became suspicious and reported the incident to the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior.

Securitymen rushed to the location and found a queue of motorists as well as the suspect holding the ID documents of two citizens. When asked to show his ID, the fake policeman refused and attempted to escape but he was controlled after fierce resistance.

Securitymen checked his vehicle and found drugs. He was arrested and referred with the confiscated drugs to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action
