Ministry of interior brings riots under control

KUWAIT, May 3: The Kuwait Ministry of Interior said on Sunday that the security forces concerned have dispelled a riot carried out by a number of members of the Egyptian community in their designated shelters, asking the Egyptian authorities to respond to their request to repatriate to their country.

The ministry said in a press statement to the General Administration of Security Relations and Media that after the riot and lawlessness, the security men intervened and tightened control over them and arrested a number of them who were transferred to take legal measures against them.

Representatives from the Egypt embassy were present and informed their nationals that the Egyptian embassy will start preparing schedules for return trips and evacuating them to their country this week for all violators of residency in accordance with the established procedures and protocols for the evacuation process.

The Egyptian embassy had apologized for the riots occurred inside the shelters and confirmed that it would take serious measures to solve this problem.

The ministry confirmed that the instructions issued to the security men are clear and explicit and provides for dealing firmly with the rioters, noting that the security services will not allow chaos or bypassing the law.

All violators in shelters are urged to abide by the law, stressing that it will take the maximum legal measures followed with violators of the laws.

The Egyptian ambassador to the State of Kuwait, Tariq Al-Quni, announced earlier today Sunday that the evacuation trips for violators of the residence law in the country from the Egyptian community will begin this week.

In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Kouni said that these evacuation trips will be allocated first for women and children from the residents of the centers for the violators who are provided with decent means of life and free meals and drinks in the coming days to transport all the violators.

It is worth mentioning that the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Interior, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh issued a decision on March 30th to allow violators of the Residence Law to leave the country without paying any financial fines incurred on them as well as without incurring travel costs and airline tickets in light of the exceptional circumstances the country is going through Due to the spread of the new corona virus (Covid 19).
