KUWAIT CITY, May 10: The prices of medicines and treatments included in the health insurance system for retirees are exaggerated and fake, report Al-Shahid daily. According to a study conducted by the daily, the Kuwait Constitution guarantees health care for citizens, as stipulated in Article No. 11 – The state guarantees aid to citizens in old age, illness or inability to work, and also provides them with social insurance services, social aid and health care.

This is the reason why the health insurance for retirees covers the cost of contracting with a specialized insurance company for the purpose of health insurance coverage for retired citizens. The study highlighted a video clip on social media in which the high prices in the Afia health insurance scheme were highlighted compared to the prices in pharmacies. The owner of the video explains that the prices of some medicines prescribed by the specialist doctor does not exceed KD 3, but they are recorded as KD 8.

Canceled In addition to other medicines, the invoice he received from Afia exceeds KD 60. After contacting the officials of the company, they canceled the previously determined price of KD 60, and returned the actual price, which does not exceed KD 20. Addressing many retirees, he said, “All of this goes from your balance! You should be aware of all that”. He called on all retirees to check the price of the medicine registered in the back and compare it with the amount deducted from the Afia health insurance system, adding, “In the event of a difference between them or an increase in the Afia prices, all retirees must insist on deducting this increase and returning to the actual price”.
