KUWAIT CITY, Sept 14: The State Security officers carried out a pre-emptive strike against the DAESH terrorist organization and foiled its plan to destroy the country’s e-system and the World Wide Web in a number of Gulf and Arab countries, reports Al-Shahed daily.

The daily added, the pre-emptive strike was carried out after the Sate Security received a tip-off from unidentified sources that the terrorist organization had developed a plan to blow up the e-infrastructure with the aim of disrupting work at airports and ministries, and information centers in a number of countries.

The information was relayed to the Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid and he issued orders to track the members of this organization and foil their attempts. The State Security succeeded in identifying two African Arabs and two others – a Libyan and an Iraqi — living in their respective countries and Syrians residing in a Gulf state who were assigned to carry out the attacks.

Following the investigations police managed to take into custody a Jordanian working for a company doing business with a military institutions and a Kuwaiti. The daily added, contacts are underway with the authorities of the concerned countries (Arab and Gulf) to arrest the rest of the members of the network.

Meanwhile, the Al-Jarida daily quoting judicial sources said the investigations conducted by the Public Prosecutor and the State Security with the Kuwaiti, identified only as A.S., he is known to have disrupted official and commercial websites in a number of countries, including the US, Britain and Belgium. The sources added, some of these countries may call for the extradition of the Kuwaiti and closely monitor the interrogations carried out by the Kuwaiti authorities to see to what extent damage has been done by the DAESH hackers and what role he played.

The sources explained the Kuwaiti was put under surveillance for nearly six months before he was taken into custody. Investigations also revealed his affiliation to the ‘Caliphate Electronic Army’ and his membership in DAESH.

The source said it is a seven-man ‘army’ specialized in disabling devices around the world for the benefit of the organization.

The sources added the Kuwaitis has admitted to the charge and said his role was confined to damaging a lot of electronic systems in some countries upon orders. He denied he was involved in piracy in Kuwait. Last Thursday, the sentences renewal judge has remanded him to 15 more days into police custody to help Prosecution complete the interrogations following which he will be referred to the Criminal Court.

In other news according to the Al-Rai daily, a Kuwait-born man whose nationality has not been given, identified as Mohammed Kayad, is said to have admitted before the Australian court that he supported the Islamic State or the so-called DAESH, This man was reportedly arrested with his housemate Omar Al-Kutbi (an Iraqi refugee) in February 2015.

They have been charged with conspiring to carry out terrorist attack on a Police Station in Sydney. The men had been behind bars since then. The Ministry of Interior has formed a special security cell to combat terrorism comprising officers and personnel trained to diffuse explosives, reports Al-Shahed daily.

The daily quoting security sources said the counter-terrorism force will be provided with highly sophisticated weapons, including infrared machine-guns, bulletproof vests and night vision ‘goggles’. The sources added the task of the force will be to deal with terrorist incidents and provide support to the security agencies particularly the State Security police and the Criminal Investigation Department.
