Conditions for applicants of roaming and call taxis

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 20: Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Operations at the Ministry of Interior Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh has issued conditions regulating the work of retired citizens and Bedoun residents as drivers of roaming taxis and call taxis, reports Aljarida daily.

According to informed sources, these conditions include that the applicant must present a certificate from Public Institution for Social Security that confirms that he is retired and unemployed, a certificate of good conduct issued by the General Administration of Criminal Evidence, and a health fitness certificate.

Also, the applicant must pass the geography test on all areas of the country. Regarding the conditions for the Bedoun applicants, the decision stipulates that the applicant must have a security card valid for a period not exceeding six months, a certificate of good conduct issued by the General Administration of Criminal Evidence, and a health fitness certificate. He too must pass the geography test on all areas of the country.

The decision stated that the place for submitting the applications is the Department for Coordination and Follow-up in the General Traffic Department. It is worth mentioning that the profession of drivers of roaming taxis and call taxis is limited to expatriates under article 18 residency, and operating in airports is limited to retired Kuwaiti citizens
