KUWAIT CITY, Sept 5: Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Bader Al-Essa disclosed that the recent robbery at Ibn Al-Jawzi Primary School for Boys in Nahda area will not be swept under the carpet. Al-Essa said the caretaker of the school has been named as the prime suspect, because he disappeared from the premises after the incident even before security authorities arrived at the scene to lift fingerprints.

In a statement issued on his visit to the school Monday, Al-Essa said the doors of the school were destroyed by burglars who raided the premises and made away with the valuables. He pointed out that Ministry of Education and Higher Education will sign contracts with specialized companies to provide security guards.

He noted the security guards manning the schools will be replaced frequently as a precautionary measure, although crimes are committed despite the level of preventative measures in place. He revealed the perpetrators destroyed surveillance cameras that could have helped in identifying them.

Meanwhile, Director of Farwaniya Educational Area Jassem Bu Hamad pointed out that the stolen items included 21 PCs, 2 CCTV screens, a water cooler, 15 fridges, 7 plasma TV sets, 10 printers, 4 loud speakers, 12 musical instruments and AC units. He indicated 7 aluminum doors were destroyed but the school will be ready to receive students at the beginning of the academic year.
