At the outbreak of COVID-19 global pandemic, Bangladesh, despite her own domestic scarcity, was one of the leading countries to extend medical support within just two weeks of the request trade by the Government of Kuwait. Bangladesh and Kuwait enjoy special bilateral relationship since the independence of Bangladesh in 1971. Bilateral relationship reached a new height with Bangladesh Army’s participation as a coalition force during Gulf War 1990-91.

Building further on that relationship, Operation Reconstruction of Kuwait was launched immediately after the liberation of Kuwait as a friendship bridge between the two esteemed Militaries and the two Governments. The objective was to make safe the lives and properties of brotherly Kuwaiti people through extensive search-clearance-demolition operations against the menace of vastly and densely scattered mines and explosives from Kuwaiti soil. Bangladesh Military Contingent to Kuwait knitting herself with Kuwait Armed Forces simultaneously engaged in rebuilding efforts of the State of Kuwait by providing technical and vocational expertise in the fields of medical, engineering, communication etc. The effort of Bangladesh Military Contingent continues till date with increasing impetus and stronger bonding between the two countries.
