KUWAIT CITY, Sept 12: Al-Salmiya Club has decided to terminate the contract of Moroccan professional Younes Al-Najjar and replace him with Syrian defender Amer Midani. Al-Najjar's performance fell short of expectations and did not meet the standards set by the technical staff, led by Croatian coach Ante Miša. After failing to impress, Miša decided to release Al-Najjar and instructed the administrative team to find a new professional to fill the center-back position.
This decision also comes in light of the decline in the form of team captain Fahad Al-Mujammed, who is currently undergoing a treatment program expected to last over 30 days following an injury sustained in the third round of the Zain Premier League.
Al-Salmiya signed Al-Najjar last July, and its squad also includes foreign professionals such as Tunisia’s Imad Lawati, Brazil’s Alex Lima, Libya’s Al-Sanousi Al-Hadi, and Guinea’s Sang Pierre. Midani brings extensive experience, having previously played for Al-Nasr last season and Kuwait Club earlier in his career. He has also had stints with Al-Wahda, Iraq’s Al-Minaa, UAE’s Hatta, and Egypt’s Pyramids and Al-Ittihad of Alexandria, in addition to representing Syria at all national team levels.
