Al-Hajeri double sinks Al-Qadsiya

KUWAIT CITY, April 23: Kuwait Sports Club (the Whites) have been crowned winners of the Amir Cup after defeating their conventional rivals Al-Qadsiya Club by 2-0 in an entertaining encounter at the Jaber International Stadium.  Fahad Al-Hajeri was the heroe of the match with a quick double. Al-Hajeri broke the deadlock in the 5th minute and his second of the match in the 27th minute.

Captain of the ‘Whites’ Hussein Hakim received the coveted trophy from HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah after which the Amir honored the Italian referees who officiated the match with medals, while the President of Kuwait Football Association Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yousef presented a memorabilia plaque to the Amir.

The ‘Dean’ have proven to be the best among their peers by winning three major competitions, and with their recent crowning, they have recorded 14 silverware, a little different from Qadsiya that have 16 and 15 for Al-Arabi. The scintillating achievements recorded during the era of the club’s chairman Khalid Al-Ghanim were possible due to massive support given in all competitions at various levels of participation.

The match became interesting from the beginning to the point where the Dean were able to score the first goal within the first 5 minutes through Fahad Al-Hajeri when he connected a pass from Jumah Sa’eed from the right wing.

On the contrary, Al-Kuwait Club were able to contain attacks from the opponent, which they converted to counter-attacks that fetch the first goal with a 4-3-3 style of play as instructed by the National Coach Mohamed Abdullah.

Al-Hajeri continued to mount pressure on the Yellows, which paid off again at the 27th minute when he scored the second goal in a very creative manner. The last minutes of the game was very tough as the Whites were struggling to maintain the lead, while the Yellows worked hard to ensure they cancelled the goals-although it never happened, until the last whistle was blown.
