5 Kuwaiti clubs sign ‘foreign’ footballers

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 2: With the aim of supporting and improving women footballers in Kuwait, five sporting clubs have succeeded in signing contracts with international women professional players to participate in the 2nd Women Futsal League.
According to a press release, Salwa Al-Sabah Club signed a contract with a Bahraini footballer Hessa Al-Essa, Al-Fatat Club engaged another Bahraini footballer Manar Al-Yaqoub, and Al-Arabi Club struck a deal with a Lebanese footballer Nancy Chailian. Al-Qadsiya Club signed a deal with Senai Al-Balouti and Al-Kuwait Club went for the Brazilian footballer Elizani Ezgahrbi.
Chairperson of Women Committee at Kuwait Football Federation Fatmah Hayat declared that signing contracts with foreign professional players is a significant and positive step in the right direction. She said it is a sign of clubs’ seriousness and their readiness to invest in women football.
