211 files of companies suspended, 5792 workers registered – Expat workers strike due to non payment of salaries for more then 3 mnts

KUWAIT CITY, April 16: The Director General of Labor Affairs at the Manpower Authority Hassan Al-Khader announced yesterday that 211 files of contracting companies with government projects have been suspended according to AlQabas.

Al-Khader said in a press statement yesterday that after reviewing the files of contracts and government projects, hundreds of contracts ended since September 31, 2018 where these companies have 5,792 workers.

He instructed labor departments to stop the main files of companies holding contracts until they terminate employees or take the legal procedures followed for these companies

Meanwhile a group of Asian workers working for a cleaning company who are subcontractors for Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs went on a strike in protest against the non-delivery of companies paid for more than three months.

The workers said they were patient with the company’s promises to pay the late salaries, but since February until now has not been paid, employees working in the contracts of cleanliness in all provinces suffer from the same problem, especially those working in the Department of Islamic studies and the sciences of the Koran and its centers.

The source pointed out that a committee has been formed to discuss the developments of this matter, and a decision has been taken to terminate the contract with the company for violating the terms of the contract and not to work for the establishment who dont pay their employees salaries.
