Zero tolerance for visa peddlers – PAM toughens penalties

KUWAIT CITY, April 6: Director of the Public Authority for Manpower PAM) Ahmad Al-Mussa has warned that the authority will not tolerate anyone proven to be involved in visa trafficking and it will not allow them to escape from punishment and legal accountability, affirming the strictest procedures are being taken against those harming the country and its people, reports Al-Jarida daily.

Speaking to the daily, Al-Mussa made clear that PAM toughened penalties for employers who violated the Private Sector Labor Law. He said the citizens raised their voices to support governmental efforts in holding accountable the visa traffickers who brought marginal workers to the country and harmed the demographic structure.

He affirmed every expatriate worker, who entered the country on a work permit after paying a certain amount to the employer, is an accomplice in this crime and he will not be exempted from punishment. He pointed out the embassies should play a big role in educating their nationals about the Labor Law, as well as the rights and duties of every worker, in order to avoid legal problems. He also confirmed the continuation of surprise inspection tours in companies and shops to ensure strict compliance with the decisions of the Ministries Council and the Labor Law.

He asked all those who violated the Residency Law to take advantage of the onemonth grace period specified by the Interior Ministry for them to return to their home countries without paying fines and allowing them to return to Kuwait without any administrative penalty against them.
