Young officer, several others arrested for violating curfew, going to chalets

KUWAIT CITY, May 27: Personnel from the electronic crimes department have arrested several people over the past few days and they included those who violated the curfew or spread rumors, in addition to an officer in the rank of first lieutenant working for the Ministry of Defense for violating the curfew and driving to chalet without permission and also helping people to go to the chalet by driving them in his vehicle.

A security source said after the officer was referred for investigation and he admitted to committing the offence after he was shown the clip which he had posted on the social media.

He has been detained at the Shamiya Police Station. According to a security source, the clip was circulated showing a young officer having conversation with a girl who was hiding in the back of the seat as he asked her to remain silent because he would cross the checkpoint so that she would not be heard.

The source said as soon as the clip was circulated, instructions were given to the cybercrime men who were able to identify the officer and arrest him. He was picked from his residence in the Dasman and taken to the police station.
