KUWAIT CITY, May 5: From the so-called ‘devil’s roundabout’ to the ‘thief’s roundabout’, it is possible to summarize the miserable condition of Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh where problems continue to worsen day after day without anyone trying to stop this deterioration which has affected everything in the area — a manifestation of gross negligence at various levels.

Pictures portray the dilapidated state of condition this area in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh is. The densely populated area is completely neglected by municipal authorities

Many residents in the area affirmed this while describing the situation, saying that piles of garbage have become a normal phenomenon and the deplorable condition of the sewage system created fountains of sewerage water due to the overwhelming negligence of those in charge of water purification.

In an investigative report, the residents explained how the garbage bins are full of waste for days without anyone removing them, resulting in the spread of various illnesses.

They also complained about the bad odor emanating from the garbage bins, manhole and swamps of sewerage water everywhere.

They pointed out that names have been coined for some areas to reveal the nature of criminal operations there, such as the ‘devil’s roundabout’ that has become the ‘grazing land’ for prostitution and the ‘thief’s roundabout’ which is a market for goods stolen day and night.

The residents keep on wondering about the role of parliamentarians in this regard, especially those whose electoral constituency includes Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. Despite the intensive media coverage that the area gets, no one seem to care about the terrible environmental condition there.
