When I was just a little girl, I asked my mother what will I be? Will I be pretty? Will I be rich?

Here’s what she said to me: ‘Que sera… sera. Whatever will be… will be. The future’s not ours to see. Que sera, sera. What will be, will be.

When I grew up and fell in love, I asked my sweetheart, what lies ahead? Will we have rainbows?

Day after day?

Here’s what my sweetheart said: “Que será, sera. Whatever will be, will be. The future’s not ours to see, Que será, sera. What will be, will be.

Now I have children of my own. They ask their mother, what will I be? Will I be handsome? Will I be rich?

I tell them tenderly: “Que será, sera. Whatever will be, will be. The future’s not ours to see. Que será, sera. What will be, will be. Que será, será

I do not know how many times I listened to and enjoyed this simple song and how I sang it loudly in concerts, alone or with others, but I know that I still enjoy it and its beautiful melody. It was one of the finest and most famous American songs of Doris Day, who left our world a weeks ago, a little bit less than 97 years old not spent in anything related to righteousness and piety. Doris Day’s life was a series of problems and stories of family failure.

Doris was born in 1922, and in the 1960s she was known for her beautiful smile, beautiful blonde hair and wonderful voice, and a source of happiness for everyone who watched her films or listened to her songs. We could see the constant smile and two rows of glittering white teeth, and we did not see grief, failure, and unhappiness in her life, that’s what we did not think.

Doris lived a long life, full of painful events and involvement in large financial debts due to failed marriages, but despite her nearly 100-year-old life, the end was unhappy and this may have prompted her at a certain age to devote most of her time and money to care for and defend the rights of the animal after she found it more fulfilling, and love deserving than humans.

Doris played her most beautiful film roles with actor Rock Hudson. I followed her films between Al-Firdous Cinema in Kuwait and the Beirut Cinemas, and I enjoyed watching them, followed by watching her famous television series. She was an ordinary actress, playing roles of a kind and sincere wife, and her roles were not related to the reality of her bustling life.

Although Doris was once the number one actress at the box office, Hollywood is unforgiving and cast her away, and ignored her when she was in dire need to raise money to settle her accumulated debts.

We say that it is important to know how to live, and it is more important to know how our lives will end. Everything we achieve in our lives means nothing if we fail to keep something for our last days.
