‘Water supply disrupted’ – Jahra road project in progress

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 9: Water supply has been disrupted in nearly 17 residential areas since Thursday, while some drivers of water tankers have taken advantage of the situation as they increased the price of freshwater to KD 10 per tank in houses and the cooperative societies witnessed crowd of people who purchased different sizes of bottled water, reports Al-Shahed daily. An official statement from the Ministry of Electricity and Water explained the problem originated from the breakdown of the main water pipeline at Doha Pumping Station.

The ministry confirmed that emergency teams have promptly dealt with the situation. Meanwhile, Ministry of Public Works’ Assistant Undersecretary for Road Engineering Affairs Ahmad Al-Hassan has affirmed the implementation of 86 percent of the Jahra Road development project whose total cost is estimated at KD 260.345 million and it is considered one of the biggest infrastructure in the country, reports Al- Shahed daily.

Al-Hassan revealed the project is the first of its kind as it is composed of three levels; hence, it is classified as one of the largest and most important projects internationally. He said several teams of engineers, technicians and laborers are working on the project, which aims to increase the capacity of Jahra Road in order to prevent traffic jams and accidents.
