Waste per person high in Kuwait – World Bank Report

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 23: According to a recent report by the World Bank, the daily per capita wastes in Kuwait is 1.55 kilograms – the third highest among Arab and Gulf countries after Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The report, which was issued recently, explained that food items and vegetables constitute approximately 58 percent of the wastes in Kuwait and the region, followed by paper and cardboard boxes, and then plastic and then minerals and wood.

It indicated that Kuwait’s per capita daily waste production is higher than the global per capita average of 0.74 kilogram as well as the per capita average of 0.81 kilogram in the Middle East and North Africa.

This means the rate of per capita waste in Kuwait is approximately 100 percent higher than the regional and global average rates.
