Visas sold – Top-level graft

KUWAIT CITY, March 3: Director- General of the Citizens Service Centers, Major-General Adeeb Al-Suwaidan has suspended the supervisor of the Capital Governorate center for selling 49 domestic visas under his sponsorship, reports Al-Rai daily.

A security source said the supervisor abused his authority by recruiting dozens of domestic workers in his name and then transferring their residence permit in the name of others.

Meanwhile, a security source said a police Lieutenant Colonel was referred for interrogation a few days ago for committing a similar offence.

Police have arrested 5 Kuwaiti juveniles for harassing young women and female teenagers and snatching their cell phones inside a commercial complex in Al-Rai, reports Annahar daily. The daily added, police received several complaints from the victims, following which a team of securitymen was formed to arrest the culprits. During interrogation, the suspects have admitted to the charges filed against them.

‘Don’t fly Phantoms’: Secretary General for Aviation Security and Air Transport at Kuwait International Airport Eng Emad Al-Jalawee said the Directorate General of Civil Aviation prohibits the flying of wireless planes (Phantom) over the airport, military, oil and other vital facilities, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Al-Jalawee affirmed the directorate has addressed the relevant authorities regarding the areas where Phantom planes are not allowed to fly, indicating a system is in place for monitoring planes with cameras in order to capture illegal flights. He explained Phantom planes will stop automatically once they approach a restricted area, asserting these planes are dangerous especially if they approach massive power installations and civilian aircraft.
