Visa trading through social media

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 23:  Despite of efforts made by Public Authority For Manpower to expat workers and combat visa trading, business of buying visas and coming to Kuwait is still a flourishing. Visa trading with low rate of recruitment’s in exchange of buying visa for a huge price under the name of “Free Visa” through fictitious companies visa traders and by providing internal transfers from one sponsor to other for KD 150 has been way of life for some expats and visa traders reports Al Qabas.

Sources said that the advertisements through Facebook and expats related social media targeting those expats who wish to transfer from one sponsor to another, whether in Govt. projects or in private sectors or Small projects rates vary from KD 500 for one year and KD 750 for two years. The prices rise if expat is granted drivers license ranging from KD 850 and above KD 1000.

Sources said that these fake companies operate in commercial centers in Hawalli and Khaitan and are open for 2 hours in morning and 2 hours in evening. The advertisements are often seen on social media under various names in name of customer service companies.

One of the advertisment targetting hiring of food/home delivery workers was in clear state of violation of laws laid by the Govt. It said that working hours were 8 or 10 or 12 hours a day with 4 hours extra work was permissible by law with salary 800 fills per hour. The advertisement mentioned that the driver who wishes to join the company will be provided with a vehicle or a bike to carry out the tasks assigned to him, with 4 days off per month. It was found that according to a simple calculation, according to the company’s requirements, the worker will not be able to make 249 dinars per month if he works 12 hours per day.
