‘Values Document’ seeks to push Kuwait backwards

Candidates contesting the upcoming parliamentary elections were seen signing the ‘Values Document’, indicating their approval of it and their adoption of its contents.

The ‘Values Document’, which is a loose and silly name includes a set of measures and those who drafted this document demand that new members of the National Assembly adopt it through laws to transform life in Kuwait into something similar to what is prevalent in Afghanistan.

The pledge paper states that the candidate who will succeed in the elections must push for the implementation of the ‘segregation’ in education, continue to build classrooms for males only and females only, ban all kinds of festivals and mixed dance parties, and issuing laws to close swimming pools and mixed clubs in hotels and other entertainment centers.

It also states the activation of the modest dress code in all institutes and colleges and universities and other colleges of education, amending the law of imitating the opposite sex, criminalizing tattooing on the body, adding the crime of “insulting companions of the holy prophet (PBUH) to the law, and stopping all gambling actions announced by some telecommunications companies.

Personally, I am ready to support these conditions, with all their contradictions and absurdities, if there is someone who guarantees that their application will actually reduce the amount of corruption in society, and the citizen will raise his morals whenever exposure to any of the Companions is criminalized, for example, or girls are prevented from wearing certain types of clothes.

It was not surprising at all that the “scandalous document”, which was adopted by a number of candidates, was completely devoid of real and high moral matters.

Neither the one who wrote it nor the one who signed it pledged that he and his sons, for example, and his relatives and partners, would refrain from using the parliamentary seat to achieve wealth from state tenders and win contracts for his engineering or law office.

The document did not include any clause related to the desire of those who adopted it to fight corruption at all levels, and this is evidence that they may one day become part of it.

The scandalous document is completely devoid of the refusal to resort to tribal elections, which are criminal and immoral. Noting that the absence of addressing such important moral issues was not a coincidence, but rather because some do not see them as a crime, and they are already prepared for it, since they thought of reaching the parliament, as representatives, and their goal was and still is to achieve their personal interests, and their partisan interests!

As for the addition of the all the Companions to the law of the offender, it indicates the thinking that the adoption of such a law will make us the only people in the universe, and in human history, that criminalized offending all members of a people who lived more than 1400 years ago. Is this related to reason? Does it have relationship with morals?

We are tired of these people who warn against all these things, but they do not forbid them to themselves or to their children, especially if they are outside Kuwait.

Some of them, for example, describe life in America as immoral as former MP “Nasser Al-Sanea” said in a television interview, even though he graduated from American universities, and yet he did not hesitate to send his children to study in the US.

Therefore, those who signed this pledge will often be the last to abide by it, and there is no fear of them, but the fear of the naive believing their claims.
