UK woman says kidnapped, assaulted by Kuwaiti citizen – European selling fake cheques

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 9: Police are investigating a complaint filed by a British woman at the Ahmadi Police Station accusing a Kuwaiti of kidnapping her and assaulting her, reports Al-Anba daily. The woman told the police the incident happened about a week ago. According to the narration of the victim, the citizen grabbed her by the hair and dumped her in his car and drove off into a desert. He then pulled out a knife and threatened to stab her if she screamed for help. He then punched her in the face and nose. The complainant has provided police with a medical report showing injuries to the face and cuts and bruises on her body. Police are looking for the suspect.

Selling fake cheques: The Hawalli police have arrested an unidentified European of Arab origin for attempting to ‘sell’ counterfeit Travelers Cheques to a money exchange shop in Hawalli, reports Al-Shahed daily. The daily added, the arrest came when the staff at the exchange suspected the man and called the Operations Room of the Ministry of Interior. When the Forgery and Falsification Department of the Criminal Investigations Department checked the cheque they discovered the cheques were counterfeit. The suspect has been referred for investigations.

Man attempts suicide: A young bedoun who tried in vain to end his life by slashing his wrists has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Jahra Hospital, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily added, the incident happened inside his home in Sa’ad Al-Abdullah. A police source said the youth decided to end his life because he was fed up of evading arrest by police who were looking for him to serve a two-year prison term.

Fake cops nabbed: The Hawally police have arrested four unidentified persons for impersonating police and committing 14 thefts including robbing Asians and breaking into homes, reports Al-Shahed daily. The daily added, the arrests came after several people complained about ‘police’ robbing them. When the suspects were finally arrested, police found with them knives and electric stun. They have been referred to the investigation office. During interrogation they are said to have admitted to committing the crime.

MoD cars abandoned: The social networking websites have circulated a video footage showing cars belonging to Defense Ministry parked inside the Al-Salmi Scrapyard and their parts sold in the market, reports Al-Anba daily. The citizen, who made the footage, found IDs of two securitymen inside the military cars and CDs which may contain military secrets. According to the citizen, there are roughly 20 old military cars including buses ‘abandoned’ at the Friday market and in the Al-Salmi area.

Man high on drugs: Personnel from the Al-Ahmadi Security Directorate have arrested a Kuwaiti man for possessing and consuming narcotic pills, reports Al-Shahed daily. The man was seized in Mahboula. Police also found with him drug consuming tools. He has been handed over to the authorities.
