Two women dead, three hurt in Salmi Motorway accident

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 27: A Saudi family figured in a traffic accident on Salmi Motorway where two vehicles collided, resulting in the death of two female family members and injuries to three others — two of whom are girls.

Paramedics and securitymen rushed to the location immediately after the Operations Unit in the Interior Ministry received information on the accident.

They removed the bodies of the two women who died from the wrecked vehicle, while the injured were transported on an air ambulance to Jahra Hospital.

Drugs with official: An official from the Coast Guard Department was arrested in possession of a sachet of Chemical Drug near Thaher area. According to security sources, two vehicles had collided on the road facing Thaher area. Securitymen rushed to the location after receiving information about the accident and discovered that one of the motorists is a woman. She informed them that she is waiting for her husband to arrive and that he is an official from the Coast Guard Department. After he arrived, a quarrel broke out between him and the securitymen. When they demanded him to step into the patrol vehicle to go to the police station, he refused. Eventually, other securitymen arrived and they managed to take him to the police station in the patrol vehicle. However, when they checked his vehicle, they discovered a sachet of Chemical drug. He was referred to the Drugs Control General Department for necessary legal action.

Two caught with drugs: The Ardhiya police have arrested two unidentified youths for consuming drugs and causing a traffic jam, reports Al-Anba daily. The arrests came after several people complained to the Operations Room of the Ministry of Interior. When police patrols approached the two men, they were found to be under the infl uence of drugs. Police then searched their vehicle and seized from them three cigarettes filled with drugs and narcotic pills. The suspects and the contraband have been referred to the General Department for Drugs Control. Meanwhile, personnel from the Secret Task Force, affiliated to the General Security Department have arrested a 30-yearold Kuwaiti who had been sentenced in absentia for possessing drugs, reports Al-Rai daily. The suspect was arrested in Salhiya at a checkpoint. The suspect has been referred to the General Department for Drugs Control.
