KUWAIT CITY, Oct 2: Farwaniya securitymen arrested a Kuwaiti for the possession of 82 bottles of imported liquor. While patrolling the area in compliance with the directive of acting Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs in the Interior Ministry Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah, the securitymen got suspicious upon noticing the erratic movement of a vehicle.

They signaled for the driver — a Kuwaiti — to pull over for routine inspection. However, the suspect sped off so the officers chased him until he was arrested. When the officers checked the vehicle, they found several sealed cartons which contained 82 bottles of imported alcoholic drinks.

During interrogation, the Kuwaiti admitted to selling alcohol, hence, he was referred to the General Criminal Investigation Department. In another incident, Ahmadi securitymen arrested another Kuwaiti in Mahboula for the possession of three bottles of imported liquor.

Smuggling foiled: Customs officers at the Egyptian Air Freight Department recently foiled an attempt by an unidentified person in Kuwait to smuggle from Egypt rare mummified wild animals, reports Al-Shahed daily.

The contraband was supposed to be shipped aboard Air Egypt. Sources said the contraband included — mummified mongoose with a snake coiled around it and sculpted bird of prey sitting on the horn of a wild animal — was packed in three parcels. The confiscated stuff may be sent to the Agricultural Museum for cleaning and putting on display. Legal action is expected to be initiated against the exporter.
