Twenty-one MPs side with no-confidence

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 14: Twenty-one MPs, including the Six MPs Bloc, have announced their plan to vote in favor of the no-confidence motion against Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Ahmad Nasser Al- Mohammad. A special session has been scheduled for Feb 16 for the MPs to vote on the no-confidence motion.

Moreover, the Foreign Affairs Committee will meet on Tuesday to listen to the technical opinion of its Health, Social and Labor Affairs counterpart on organ transplant treaty and organ trafficking prevention. The committee will also deliberate on a number of bills submitted by the government. MP Farz Al-Daihani submitted a bill on amending Handicapped Affairs Law No. 8 /2010 in order to reduce the required service period for employees with disabilities to receive pension equal to their last salary.

The bill is also aimed at treating male and female workers equally. It stipulates that employees with severe and medium disabilities will receive pension equal to full salary upon completion of 10 years in service, instead of 15 years stated in the current law. Those with minor disabilities will receive pension equal to full salary after 15 years in service. The beneficiaries will be allowed to retire after spending the aforementioned years in service irrespective of their ages. Meanwhile, MP Bader Al-Humaidi forwarded queries to Minister of Interior Sheikh Ahmad Al-Mansour about the number of digital passports issued to citizens so far, how many are supplied with electronic chips, how many citizens have yet to obtain digital passports, how many citizenship files were issued to citizens as of 1990, and the number after 1990 till date including the number of females compared to males.

MP Abdullah Al-Turaiji has forwarded queries to Minister of Health Dr Khalid Al-Saeed about the number of Kuwaiti women compared to expatriates who were admitted to the Maternity Hospital in Sabah Health District in the last two years showing the number recorded each month, number of expatriate women who entered the country on family visa and were admitted to the Maternity Hospital in the last two years, fees for one day confinement in a private room for citizens and expatriates, and number of hospitalization days for women who gave birth normally compared to Cesarian delivery.

Meanwhile, Kuwaiti Government Communication Center Chairman and Government Spokesman Tareq Al-Mezrem on Monday described as “untrue” reports on resignation of the government, Foreign Minister and State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, or any other cabinet minister. “All what has been circulated on resignation of the government, the foreign minister or any other government member is totally untrue,” the spokesman said on Twitter.
