KUWAIT CITY, March 29: At the on-going elimination round of the 2016 FTBK-Bahrain Exchange Company Tenpin Bowling Team Tournament being held at the 16-lane Cozmo Entertainment Bowling Center in Salmiya, tournament leaders Siete Pares 1 were back to their usual winning form in their fifth round encounter against another leading contenders Klasmeyts NLB Corporation. After a brief lull in their impressive FTBK stint showing thus far, Siete Pares 1 put their fourth round loss behind them to edge the equally tenacious Klasmeyts NLB squad in an exciting match up. Also successfully hurdling their respective week 5 matches were the Napesco, D’ Islanders, DMDA Bowleros, Power Station and Rock N Bowl. The fifth week of this event organized by the Filipino Tenpin Bowlers Kuwait and sponsored by Bahrain Exchange Company also saw relatively low scoring and tightly contested matches.

As the two teams are both well placed in upper half of the elite 8, the expected nip and tuck match kicked off with Klasmeyts NLB Corporation proving just lucky enough to nose out their rivals by a single pin fall to snatch the 25 pin fall win points to take a 764-738 decision in game one. The intensity of the match continued in the next and this time it was the turn of Siete Pares 1 to shine as the mahjongeros eked out a close 783-756 victory in game two. Bannered by Faie Reyel, Egay Cabildo, Rico Galang and Jazel Pangilinan, Siete Pares 1 was able to widen the gap through a superb 979-814 success in the penultimate game of the match. With Siete Pares 1 ahead 2500-2334, Klasmeyts NLB tried their best to reverse the outcome of the match but to no avail as their 830-773 win in game four failed to deny Siete Pares 1 their much deserved 3298-3164 total pin falls victory and weekly high series award as well. Bowling in this outing for Klasmeyts NLB Corporation who nevertheless improved to second place despite the setback were Nelson De Leon, Emma Gatus, Bong Bermillo, Rudy Zablan, Bernabe Alfaro and Cris Bulacja.

Meanwhile, the Napesco strikers remained to be the only unbeaten team in the tournament as the previously favorite whipping team but now one of the of the leading contenders for one of the 8 seats to the championship round booked its fifth consecutive win by defeating the K2E2 Thunders 3172-3098. Steadily catching up with their more experienced peers and now a far cry from the pin busters they used to be, grabbed the early lead in this match through an 829-737 rout in game one. Banking on their veteran campaigners composed of Edwin Latoja, Lee Mills, Newell Sioxch and Danny San Juan, K2E2 took over the driver’s seat by derailing Napesco in games two and three via 788-723 and 820-774 scores. Going to the deciding final game and with K2E2 slightly ahead by just 19 pin falls 2345-2326, JR Sabado, Vicky Navarro, Jowie Concepcion and Fredy Marzo carried the scoring chores for the fired up Napesco keglers who wrapped up the match through an 821-753 victory in game four. Also suiting up for Napesco in this stint were Joseph Balo, Jhun Castracion, Benny Chan, Edgar Benitez and Ronald Ferolino.

Out to make a much needed recovery after a stinging fourth round loss which dragged them down in the team standings, D’ Islanders somehow got a consolation after subduing the Philippine Embassy strikers 3073-2938. Powered by the quartet of Edgar Pascua, Rolly David, Danny Doctor and skipper Bobby Carambas, D’ Islanders ensured the win by chalking up three straight 826-692, 759-726 and 738-700 game victories. Despite the three setbacks, the Philippine Embassy diplomats returned to deny D’ Islanders a sweeping victory by taking the fourth game 820-725 courtesy of Mac Khalil, Bert Pantanilla, Jheng Liwayway and Dexter Nebres. The DMDA Bowleros on the other hand managed to hang on to seventh place by stopping Cozmo Salmiya 3095-3050. To eke out the victory, the architectural designers beat Cozmo in games one and two 744-710 and 811-739 with Elvie Sotio, Alfred Avila, Sonny Mariano, Al Belarmino and Chit Mariano at the helm. The entertainment magnates headed by Aga Cuadrazal, Maricar Ruben, Cris Batucan and Abdul Khader Farook stayed in the match by taking the next two games 782-722 and 819-793.

In the other two matches of the week, Rock N Bowl spearheaded by Liza Catapia, Romy Daus, Norie Sairat, Rod Llait and Tariq Sairat nipped Siete Pares 2 with Lito Igot, Mario Santos, Dorcas Sansone, Alex Nodalo and Edwin de Mesa 3036-2963. Power Station led by Uly Menezes, Fatima Sequiera, Nadine Dias Siddharth Nair and Jason D’ Souza also emerged victorious from a tight match by grounding defending champion World Class with Glenn Corbit, Gina Ashley, Bill Stiles and Jason Baker 3076-3026.
