KUWAIT CITY, May 8: A police lieutenant colonel has been referred to the interrogation department of the Ministry of Interior for helping his brother escape from police, humiliating men in uniform on duty and damaging a police vehicle, reports Al-Anba daily.

A security source said this happened when patrolmen on duty in Al-Qurain stopped a Kuwaiti who was riding a Jeep and discovered he was wanted by law for failing to pay KD 300 ‘debt’.

Police suggested that he pay the money immediately instead of him being referred to the Sentences Enforcement Department.

The man refused and police insisted. At this time the man got out of his vehicle, locked the doors and called his brother. The brother arrived and introduced himself as a police officer and suggested that the problem should be solved amicably.

Police insisted on applying the law, so the police officer took his brother in his car and drove off after colliding with the police vehicle. He then went for duty at the police station in uniform and was told three charges have been filed against him.
