Thousands bagged in fines, citations issued

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 9: The Public Relations Department of Kuwait Municipality has declared that the Department of Illegal Structures Demolition at Capital Municipality realized great achievements in the last few months.

Fines worth KD 31,755 have been collected and 1,744 citations were issued by the department, reports Al-Seyassah daily. In a press release, Head of the Department of Illegal Structures Demolition Eng Abdullah Jaber said the inspection campaigns carried out in the last few months were based on instructions from the Director of Capital Municipality Eng Ammar Al-Ammar. He explained that 1,283 citations and 273 warnings were issued against violating advertisements and 293 violating advertisements were removed. Citations against 311 food-related violations and 109 violations of hygiene-related and road-trespassing were issued. Warning stickers were placed on 504 violating cars.

Against violating buildings, 493 citations were issued including 41 for violating constructional regulations. About 130 buildings were examined for provision of electricity supply and 17 illegal structures were removed from state properties. In addition, 11 shops were closed administratively.

Meanwhile, the Public Relations Department of Kuwait Municipality revealed that a total of 537 corpses were buried in June 2016 and 96 corpses of deceased expatriates were sent to their respective countries for burial, as per statistics issued by the Department of Funeral Affairs.
