Those who manipulate prices of medical masks will be referred to prosecution

The Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Drug and Food Control Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Al-Badr, confirmed today that those who manipulate with the prices of medical respirators and violate the decision of the Ministry of Commerce and Trade in regards to the prices of medical respirators will be referred to public prosecution and closure.

Sources said that the Ministry of Commerce’s decision to set the prices of medical respirators came in coordination with the Ministry of Health to control the price process and not to tamper with it.

It is mentioned that the decision of the Ministry of Commerce was circulated to all private pharmacies and central markets for compliance, and there was a response in the implementation of the decision.

The decision set the sale price of the surgical face mask of 100 fils per piece as a sale price for the public and 85 fils for the company or supplier, while the sale price for the N95 face mask was set at 1.320 dinars per piece for the public, and 1.100 dinars for the company or supplier .

The decision stated that “these prices are the maximum prices for selling medical masks and are not permitted to be exceeded. Anyone who violates this decision applies the penalties stipulated in Law No. 10 of 1979 in the matter of supervising trade in goods and services and craft work and determining their prices and amended by Law No. 117 of in 2013, the
Badr denied that there was a shortage of any medical supplies, masks, and disinfectants, confirming that they were available in adequate quantities.
