THE moment the pen unable to write about is when we speak about one of the greatest persons of the modern era. The Queen who sat on the throne of one of the greatest empires on which the sun does not set. She combined emotional stability, calm, elegance and acclaimed historical positions. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of The United Kingdom and the Commonwealth of Nations, who pass away hours ago, leaving behind 70 years of glorious history and a great legacy that will remain a milestone in history.

Queen Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was born on April 21, 1926. She is the daughter of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. She married Prince Philip Mountbatten on November 20, 1947. She became Queen of the United Kingdom on February 6, 1952 and was officially crowned on June 2, 1953.

Being up brought in the royal family and the daughter and granddaughter of kings had a great role with her husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, in good leadership and guidance in the post-World War II era and trying to adapt to the human, material and psychological consequences of the war on the whole world. Perhaps the truest expression said by British Prime Minister, Liz Truss, that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is the rock on which Britain was founded. Because the strict royal protocol followed by members of the royal family, led by the Queen, had a major role in stabilizing political and economic life in all countries that are controlled under the royal crown and the constitutional Queen to whom all crown state citizens swear allegiance.

The hearts of the people all over the world in general and the British people in particular loved the personality, humanity, elegance and wisdom of Queen Elizabeth II. When divisions and clashes happened in UK in 1978 as a result of bad economic conditions, her words had a positive impact on the hearts of the British people, telling them, “It is never easy to be cheerful and positive when everything around us suggests the opposite, but stopping the effort will mean, so to speak, kill hope for a better tomorrow. Even if problems seem to overwhelm us, there is always a place for optimism”.

In fact, it is known to anyone that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth was an icon of tolerance between different religions, sects and races. She is the Queen who embraced all religions, and her tolerance had the greatest merit in turning British society into a global model of tolerance and harmony between its various sects. One of her most prominent positions in support of tolerance, as said by BBC, is Her visit to a mosque in London after the events of September 11, 2001, the first royal visit to a mosque, where the imam of the mosque gifted her a Quran. Such act is a wise policy that establishes the concept of citizenship and belonging to the homeland before it is a message to the world about the need for tolerance.

Archbishop of Canterbury Cathedral, who is one of the close persons of the Queen Elizabeth II, talks about aspects of her exceptional personality. He said “I met the Queen on many occasions. Her Majesty faced difficulties with hope, steadfastness and tolerance. She always showed us the beauty of a life full of joy and happiness, even in difficult times during her reign”. He also said “I spoke with her after the death of her husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who was for her as a big support, solidarity and hope. I spoke alone with Her Majesty about her service and love for the country. I was surprised that she reminded me of quotes of world leaders in the 1960s. This proves her strong memory and deep sense of wisdom and sincerity in serving her country, and that she is the only person in the world who says and does only what she believes. She is the home of wisdom and confidence”.

For the British-Kuwaiti relations. They are historical relations dating back to the Anglo-Kuwaiti Treaty of Friendship 1899 until the independence of Kuwait from the British protection in 1961 during the reign of the father, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem, may God have mercy on him, may God bless his soul, and make Paradise his abode. Britain played a major role in liberating Kuwait from the Iraqi invasion twice; The first was in 1961 during the reign of Abdul Karim Qassem, and the second was at the forefront of the international coalition forces in 1991 against the brutal Saddam army.

Finally, we will forever remember Kuwait’s friends and allies with all goodness who stood by us in our crises. We will forever remember the greats of history, especially Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with all goodness as a symbol of wisdom, tolerance and hope. As a Kuwaiti citizen, I extend my sincere condolences and sympathy to the friendly British people on the death of the Queen of Hearts. May Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II rest in peace.
