‘Terror motive behind killing of policeman’

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 27: Interrogations with Abdulaziz Waleed Shaheen Al-Shamlan, the suspect in the hit-and-run case which resulted in the death of a policeman and injuries to several others, revealed terrorist motives behind his act, reports Al-Qabas daily.

According to security sources, the suspect appeared normal during interrogations and did not show any signs of mental disorder.

He spoke normally and explained in detail the steps taken to carry out the crime of running over the security personnel, how it was planned and how he selected the place and time of the crime, all of which clearly indicates that it was a premeditated crime.

The investigations also revealed that Al-Shamlan follows the ideology of a terrorist organization that calls for overthrowing the regime in the country, and that he was planning to carry out a criminal act. The sources indicated that the suspect took advantage of the presence of security personnel in the national celebrations to carry out his plan.

Meanwhile, Al-Anba daily reported that the father of the martyred police offi cer Turki Al-Enezi criticized the statement made by the father of the suspect Al-Shamlan on social media that his son is sick and has a fi le in the Psychiatric Medicine Hospital. Al-Enezi’s father indicated that any criminal can hold a certifi cate from the psychiatric hospital and commit a crime to escape punishment.
