Team formed to follow, expedite workflow of T2 airport projects

KAC opens Air Dispatch Dept

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 27: Minister of Public Works and State Minister for Municipal Affairs Eng Hussam Al- Roumi issued a directive to the Understecretary of the ministry Eng Awatif Al-Ghunaim to form a work team for following up the execution of the new passenger terminal (T2) and expedite the workflow in a manner that will ensure progressive and steady accomplishment, reports Aljarida daily.

The directive, which was issued on October 23, superseded a directive that was issued same time last year by the then minister Abdulrahman Al-Mutawa pertaining to the formation of a supreme follow-up committee for the project.

Subsequently, Eng Al-Ghunaim instructed to form the team, which will be in charge of following up the construction progress of the projects being carried out at the airport and providing suggestions for dealing with any challenges that could tamper with the stipulated time frame of those projects, in addition to expediting procedures for issuing the necessary approvals, and shortening the red tapes.

The team consists of assistant undersecretary of the minister’s consultative body, two representatives from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, a representative from the Central Agency for Public Tenders, a representative from the Fatwa and Legislation Department, a representative from Ministry of Finance, an architect from the ministry’s special projects administration Faisal Al Ostad, and Head of the preparation and follow-up section in the undersecretary’s office Eng Afrah Al-Saeedi.

Meanwhile, Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) has inaugurated the Air Dispatch Department in the Operations Control Center within KAC head office. According to a press release, the inaugural event was held in presence of KAC Board Chairman Yousef Abdulhameed Al-Jassem, Executive Director Eng Abdullah Al-Sharhan and several other senior officials of the corporation.

The Air Dispatch Department, which was recently moved from Terminal 1, is responsible for preparation of documents and plan related to the route of a flight with relevant details before its departure, during the flight and upon landing. It also handles necessary permits in collaboration with the Engineering Sector to keep abreast with the level of readiness of an airplane and its need for fuel. The department also coordinates with the Flight Schedule Department to appraise the weather and prepare the flight crew.
