Team Domnic Savio breaks tie to face KOC Blues in Finals

The semifinals of the prestigious International Red Hockey Championship were held at the KOC Field Hockey Grounds, at Ahmadi Park on Friday. In a keen contest, the four teams battled it out the full 48 minutes to move into the finals.

In the 1st game of the evening, during the 1st quarter Ateeq Rahman brilliantly scored, putting KOC Greens in the lead, until a 4th quarter penalty stroke awarded to DBO was beautifully placed into the net by a composed Sherwin, ending the game in a tie. With the sun setting beautifully on the horizon, a perfect setting was made for DBO goalkeeper Jayan and Danish of KOC Greens to face tie-breaker strokes, deciding who could take their team ahead. While only Herman Singh and Auranzaib could score for KOC Greens, Sherwin, Eustace, Abdulrahman & Kulveer ensured DBO went through to the finals.

The second semifinal had Mahmoud Abdulfatah score twice, while M. Abbas & Hasnain Ali found the net once each. This ensured KOC Blues reached the finals, winning all their games. Kuwait Independence Hockey had to settle with an opportunity to play KOC Greens vying for 3rd position.

As the IRH Championship 2018, approaches its conclusion the hosts International Red take this opportunity to thank the Kuwait Oil Company for providing, for free, the only world class Field Hockey facility here in Kuwait. Further the hosts thank The Sultan Center & Al-Mulla Automotive, for their generous support towards organizing the IRHC 2018.
