KUWAIT CITY, Feb 18: The security authorities at the Kuwait International Airport have arrested MP Mohammad Al-Mutair, who had been sentenced in absentia to one-year in prison for storming the National Assembly, reports Al-Shahed daily. Al-Mutair was taken into custody after he arrived at the Kuwait International Airport from Istanbul, Turkey aboard the Kuwait Airways plane.

When the securitymen asked Al-Mutair to wait, he insisted on leaving saying he enjoys the parliamentary immunity, and warned securitymen against arresting him. Initially there was confusion among senior officers because there were no clear orders to implement the ruling or not. The daily gave no other details.
