Spike in COVID infection; 1,870 infected

KUWAIT CITY, June 23: Kuwait said daily coronavirus cases jumped by 1,870 to 344,799 as deaths rose by six to 1,894, according to the health ministry on Wednesday. Another 1,681 people were cured of the virus, raising the total of those to have overcome the disease to 324,578, the ministry said. The number of people hospitalised with the virus currently stands at 18,327, with 259 of them in intensive care units, the ministry added, revealing that some 14,678 swab tests were conducted over the last day out of a total of 2,879,549. The ministry urged nationals and expatriates alike that abiding by health precautions, mainly, following social distancing rules, is the only way to halt the spread of the virus
