Some private schools refused to abide by ministry’s decision – Violating schools to be held accountable

KUWAIT CITY, March 4: While the Ministry of Education took a sovereign decision to suspend school for a period of two weeks starting from March 1, some private schools refused to abide by this decision, and obliged their teachers to stay in the school buildings, reports Aljarida daily.

According to sources, one of the private schools announced the end of the school year by considering the grades achieved by the students in the previous exams as their final exams’ grades. They explained that some private schools in Khaitan area ordered their teachers and administration staff to report to work.

They did not abide by the government’s decision to suspend school until March 15th. The staff said the schools forced them to attend, and threatened disciplinary actions against those who failed to adhere to such orders, even possible termination of their services.

These schools do not have any electronic educational platforms due to which the teachers do not have any work to do. Suspend The sources highlighted that the Public Administration for Special Education had issued a circular to declare that private schools are also covered by the government’s decision to suspend school, and it is the school’s duty to prevent the presence of teachers in the school building.

During this period, they encouraged them to take advantage of e-learning, if any, to explain the lessons to students without the need to come to school. Regarding this announcement, sources affiliated to the Public Administration of Special Education revealed to the daily that all schools, irrespective of their education systems, must follow the decisions of Ministry of Education, and are obliged to implement such directives. They insisted that no school will be allowed to take any decision overriding that of the ministry in this regard.

The sources stressed that decisions regarding exams, appointments and the full academic year are completely affiliated with the ministry and “Special Education”, and no school will be allowed to make independent decisions. They affirmed that the violating school will be held accountable along with any other school that violates the ministry’s decisions.
