Union asks tenants to cooperate with real estate owners

KUWAIT CITY, April 14: Amidst growing calls for landlords to exempt tenants from paying rent or substantially reduce rent by at least half due to the coronavirus crisis, the Real Estate Union affirmed that the next stage is very crucial; hence, the need for solidarity and cooperation between landlords and tenants, reports Al-Seyassah / Arab Times daily.

In a recent press statement, the union called on all parties to understand the conditions of each other and achieve fairness and balance between them; taking into account the principle of mutual interest and sacrifice to ensure this crisis passes with the least possible damage.

It also stressed the need to guarantee the continuation of rental relationship in the long term, urging real estate owners to understand and take into consideration the situation of tenants affected by the crisis.

The union also asked the tenants to cooperate with the real estate owners to reach a just settlement for the two parties temporarily until the end of the crisis and try to resolve any dispute amicably.

It is confident that the government, the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) and the banking sector will not hesitate in taking all measures to help the real estate sector in overcoming this crisis.

The union praised the government’s decisions to protect the national economy and mitigate the impact of this crisis, which cast a shadow on all economic sectors.

It pointed out that the real estate sector is definitely affected by the decision to close commercial complexes and shopping centers, as well as the partial curfew.
