Siete Pares 2, World Class dominate the leaders board – Rock N Bowl, DMDA Bowleros subdue rivals

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 6: After the penultimate 10th week of the on-going 2016 FTBK-Robinsons Land Tenpin Bowling Team Tournament qualifying round, the battle for the remaining finals berth at stake further intensified into a battle royal among at least 10 of the 11 participating teams with Siete Pares 2 and World Class dominating the leaders board with just one round left to play.

Making a bold move in their quest for a seat to the next round were Rock N Bowl and the DMDA Bowleros who submitted the highest team output of the week after subduing their respective rivals.

Going to the final week of the elimination stage of this event sponsored by Robinsons Land and organized by the Filipino Tenpin Bowlers Kuwait (FTBK), only the two front runners namely Siete Pares 2 and World Class are mathematically assured of a trip to the championship round and the remaining four slots are set to be contested by Siete Pares 1, K2E2, Rock N Bowl, DMDA Bowleros, D’ Islanders, Strikers X, Al Afaq Holidays and Philippine Embassy Strikers.

Ever unpredictable as they are each week, the pin busters of Rock N Bowl were like a house on fire in their outing opposite the Philippine Embassy Strikers as they scorched the Cozmo bowling lanes on their way to superb 3236-2869 winning tally. In booking this impressive victory that also handed them the team weekly high series award, Rock N Bowl swept the match four games to none via 804-681, 833-717, 770-718 and 804-753 scores. Sharing the scoring load for Rock N Bowl who moved up to third in the standings were Liza Catapia, Rod Llait, Romy Fermil, Tariq Sairat, Romy Daus and Norie Sairat. Bowling in this match for the Philippine Embassy Strikers who were dazed by the pace set by the winners were Bert Pantanilla, Dexter Nebres, Mac Khalil, Jheng Liwayway and Arnold Mendoza. Meanwhile, the architectural designers of DMDA Bowleros finally made their way into the elite Top 6 after dishing out a hard earned 3206-2991 win over the tournament leader Siete Pares 2. Struggling to find their winning form since the beginning of the season, DMDA started their outing with a modest 767-721 victory in game one of the four game series encounter that was followed by a more convincing 815-748 win in the next game which gave them a 1582-1468 edge at the halfway mark. Spearheaded by Edwin De Mesa, Mario Santos, Alex Nodalo and Dorcas Sansone, Siete Pares 2 finally found the right combination in game three to snatch a 780-750 victory. Still comfortably ahead going to the final game of the match, the DMDA Bowleros headed by Elvie Sotio, Chit Mariano, Tito Tamayo, Al Belarmino and Sonny Mariano closed out their stint with a decisive 849-742 victory that proved enough to lift them up to sixth place.

In the remaining match of the penultimate week, the K2E2 Thunders with Newell Sioxch, Danny San Juan, Kim Alinea, Jess Farne, Lee Mills and Butch Alinea, bolstered their chances of advancing to the next round through a 3127-2761 rout of Cozmo Salmiya. The Islanders on the other hand remained to be strong contender as well after pulling off a crucial 3070-2818 victory over Strikers X courtesy of Bobby Carambas, Aga Cuadrazal, Marilyne Mariano, Danny Doctor, Edgar Pascua and Pilar Patula. Also staying on course for a possible trip to the championship series was Siete Pares 1 who with the combined pin sniping of Egay Cabildo, Rico Galang, Rita Vidana, Nitz Alinea and Jazel Pangilinan nipped the travel magnates of Al Afaq Holidays 3035-2939. World Class who drew the week’s bye slot garnered a total score of 3127 pin falls.

For the Individual and Team High scores the current record holders are as follows: Individual High Game Men Class O/A-Edwin Latoja 266, Men Class B-Anastasius Menezes 242, Ladies- Vicky Navarro 223; High Average Men Class O/A-Mousa Abdullah 188, Men Class B-Butch Alinea 168, Ladies-Jheng Liwayway 173; Team High Game-797 K2E2 Thunders and Team High Series-3167 Siete Pares 1.
