Sheikh Fahad Al-Ali congratulates team – ‘Unprecedented success’

KUWAIT CITY, April 17: Kuwait’s national athletics team have returned to the country after achieving unprecedented success of winning the 16th GCC Athletics Championship which ended last Saturday.

Receiving the team in a pompous reception were the Head of Kuwait Olympic Committee Sheikh Fahad Al-Ali, several sports officials including the Director of Sports for All Department at Public Authority for Sports Hamed Al-Hazeem, who represented Head of the authority Sheikh Ahmad Al-Mansour, and members of the Kuwait Athletics Association.

In his role, Sheikh Fahad Al-Ali congratulated the athletic champions for their amazing success and for winning the GCC title under the national flag. He dedicated the success to the political leadership of the country.

Praising the team for their determination and resolve in presenting a glamorous image of the country, Sheikh Fahad Al-Ali encouraged them to continue with their training and hard work in preparation for winning more titles.

In the same context, Hamed Al-Hazeem conveyed greetings from Head of the Public Authority for Sports Sheikh Ahmad Al-Mansour to the champions.

He affirmed the keenness of the authority to support Kuwaiti champions in various sports fields in order to enable them in achieving more accomplishments in their sports careers.

Al-Hazeem commended the athletics team for the achievement, which is the first GCC title won by Kuwait.

It is worth mentioning that Kuwait’s national athletics team bagged seven gold medals, four silver medals and two bronze medals along with the championship trophy after it led the general standing in the 16th GCC Athletics Championship, which had witnessed the participation of about 135 athletes from all GCC member states.
