KUWAIT CITY, July 13: Technology experts have warned Kuwaiti travelers from other Gulf States who go to the United States that they may unknowingly become criminals if they share a password to watch films via the Internet networks such as Netflix and others, reports Al-Rai daily.

One of the most powerful Appeals Courts in the US has ruled sharing passwords can be a violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. The experts explained Kuwaitis who are in the United States are bound by this law and are not entitled to share a password distributed by companies to their subscribers to watch movies directly online.

The experts explained this law does not apply to people outside the United States of America, noting that the companies that provide the service follows the password subscribers on the ISP (Internet Service Provider), and if there is more than one person using the same password the account is suspended and legal action taken against the guilty.
