KUWAIT CITY, Jan 17: A local court ordered a Kuwaiti woman to share the cost of a house with the husband. According to the case file, Attorney Mubarak Al- Khashab filed lawsuit on behalf of the woman’s husband and provided documents to prove that the man had actually paid for the house from personal funds but decided to include the wife as co-owner of the property. He explained that the wife did not pay her share of the cost as agreed, so the court obliged her to pay KD116 thousand (half the cost of the house she shares with the husband). Lawyer Al-Khashab requested the court to assign an expert to evaluate the house and the wife was ordered to pay the aforementioned sum based on the estimated value presented.

Jail for siblings: The Misdemeanor Court sentenced two siblings of the board chairman of Jamahiri Club to two years in prison with KD500 bail, and their nephew was fined KD100, for attacking some persons in sensitive parts of their bodies. The court also acquitted four others who were involved in the incident. The Public Prosecution charged the suspects with attacking some persons who sustained injuries as per the attached medical reports. The suspects were also accused of hurling verbal insults at the victims in a manner that denigrated their personalities.

Petitions withheld: The Public Prosecution has withheld petitions submitted by some lawyers against a woman journalist Fajr Al-Saeed who was accused of agitating to normalize relations with Israel, citing lack of jurisdiction. Al-Saeed, on her Twitter account, revealed that the Public Prosecution withheld the petitions filed against her for speaking out her mind on the issue of normalizing relations with Israel. Earlier, some lawyers had submitted petitions for criminalizing the call for normalizing relations with Israel and claiming the woman deserved to be held accountable for her posts.
