KUWAIT CITY, May 9: Personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department have arrested a senior Arab legal advisor working for the Kuwait General Administration for Customs (KGAC) for accepting KD 20,000 in bribe to release three containers, reports Al-Rai daily.

A customs source said the containers arrived at the port three months ago. The containers were not released because the contents did not match the bill of landing.

The source added the senior advisor then contacted the exporter and offered his help to release the containers in exchange for KD 20,000.

The exporter informed the Criminal Investigations Department and pretended to agree to the deal. The deal was KD 3,000 will be paid in advance and the rest after the consignment was released. The advisor was then put under surveillance and caught redhanded while receiving the money from the trader.
