RIYADH, Jan 30, (KUNA): The Kingdom’s General Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh condemned on Saturday the terrorist bombings that targeted worshippers while performing Friday prayer at a mosque in Al-Ahsa governorate which resulted in the killing and wounding of many innocents as part of corruption on earth.

In a statement to SPA, he said what happened in the mosque is part of a criminal plot targeting the nation through sedition, spread of corruption on earth and terror in the hearts of Muslims, an act, he said, done only by deviating and unfaithful group.

Since the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was based on the principles of the Holy Quran and the prophet’s deeds and sayings, it would never be harmed through such actions, he said. However, the Mufti warned the youths of the illusions caused by the thoughts and ideas of such deviating group.

Morocco meanwhile, strongly condemned the attack that targeted a mosque in Saudi Arabia’s eastern city of Al-Ahsa. In a press statement late Friday, the Foreign Ministry condemned to the attack which aimed at disrupting peace and stability in Saudi Arabia and harm citizens and residents alike.

The statement emphasized the unequivocal support to the Saudi kingdom’s efforts in combating terrorism and maintaining security and stability in the country. The 57-state Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) also denounced the terrorist bombing.

OIC Secretary-General Iyad Madani, in a statement lambasted “this terrorist action that revealed the perpetrators’ futility and recklessness and their tampering with principles of Islam,” wasting souls of innocent worshippers. Madani expressed solace to families of the deceased and the Saudi Government, praised the Kingdom security personnel who prevented the two suicide attackers from venturing into the mosque, where worshippers were performing Friday prayers.

The Saudi security men stood in the way of the attackers, prompting one to set off explosives attached to his body and the other to open fire and engage them in a firefight. The OIC, in principle, renounces all forms of terrorism and extremism that have become great hazards threatening all member states, as well as international peace and security, said the secretary general, who also called for coordinated international efforts to confront terrorism and violent radicalism, with all possible means.
