KUWAIT CITY, March 31: Police have arrested a Saudi army officer for obtaining the Kuwaiti citizenship through forgery, reports Al-Rai daily. A security source said the Saudi father had twin babies with his wife in Saudi Arabia during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990 and agreed with a Kuwaiti to obtain temporary birth certificates for them as Kuwaitis.

The temporary certificates were then replaced by original certifi- cates after the liberation and the names of the two children were added to the file of the Kuwaiti who had helped him get temporary certificates who, then applied and got Kuwaiti passports for the children.

Acting on this information and after taking legal action, securitymen raided the livestock pen of the Kuwaiti man who had added the ‘Saudi’ boys to his file. During interrogation the Saudi brothers also admitted that they were aware of the fact that they were born to a Saudi father. The Saudi officer and the Kuwaiti man have been referred to the Public Prosecution.
